The DIY Network has produced a series on building musical instruments out of wood. This is called luthurie and is performed by luthiers.

The star of the show is Lynn Dudenbostel, an accomplished mandolin and guitar builder. Since has has a unique name, you can google him and read some interviews and see what the musical world has to say about him. One site claims he has a 9 year backlog on orders!
