3D Printing

A natural field to get into based on my geek tendencies was 3D design and printing. I bought my first 3D printer used from a friend who wasn’t using it and it was my workhorse for years. I Barcelona I bought a second, much larger unit and so far it’s disappointed me with its features and performance… I use Fusion 360 for my 3D modeling. Here are the YouTube videos I’ve made about my designs.

My First 3D Printing Project

Note that the thin plastic shell around the model is there on purpose, called by the highly technical term "ooze shield." It is supposed to prevent the recently-stopped-but-still-hot-and-oozing-from-the-extruder plastic from interfering when switching to start printing from the other extruder. As you'll see from the print, it works pretty well but not perfectly. Perhaps I can fine tune the parameters for the next print.Show More
