I lived through the nightmare of bad clamp organization in my two previous shops and I was determined to do it right this time. I searched all over and found the design I went with in ShopNotes #19, #46 and #73. The racks are in the corner of the shop, on the north wall and on the doors of the noisy room, just steps away from where the assembly table will go. Since the air compressor and dust collector are on remote controls, I shouldn't have to go into the room very often, and it's a shame to waste valuable wall space.
I separated my clamps into the different styles, and measured the lengths.
I planned things out on graph paper to figure out the best layout. The pipe clamps slide into a 1 1/8" slot, the bar clamps and Bessy/Jet clamps slide into narrower slots, and the grip clamps fit into slots and over blocks.
